One of the most meaningful ways to honor the victims of Sobibor is to recover and preserve their names. This memorial project brings together volunteers and researchers working to identify individuals deported to Sobibor from across Europe. We discuss ongoing efforts to cross-reference transport lists, municipal records, and family documentation to build a more complete database of victims. Community members share information about specific families, contribute translations of documents in various languages, and help verify identifications. We also explore digital memorial initiatives and partnerships with established remembrance organizations. Every name recovered restores a measure of dignity to someone the perpetrators sought to erase from history. This project depends on the collective effort of many individuals, and all contributions are welcome regardless of research experience.
